King of Prussia, PA – February 28, 2017 – Greenphire, the global leader in clinical payment solutions, today supported Rare Disease Day, a day coined by the advocacy group Global Genes to raise awarenss for rare diseases and embrace the possibilities that clinical research can bring – a bright, hopeful future.
Now in its 10th year, Rare Disease Day seeks to raise awareness for the 7,000 rare (also known as orphan) diseases and the impact they have on patients’ lives. Rare diseases are defined as conditions that affect fewer than 200,000 people nationwide.
In support of the day, Greenphire participated in its Wear That You Care® event, distributing a Blue Denim Genes Ribbon® to employees and encouraging them to wear their favorite pair of jeans to work.
Greenphire will also be supporting Penn Medicine’s Orphan Disease Center’s Million Dollar Bike Race with both riders and volunteers. In its fourth year, the race seeks to raise money for rare disease research with more than $3.5 million raised to date.
